General information
Since long, Rowing Club ERV Beatrix has been organizing six-kilometer pursuit races during the winterseason.
This competition, frequented by several Dutch rowing clubs, used to take place a few weeks ahead of the national competition The Head of the River Amsterdam, hence the old name: Beatrix Head Trial.
Since 2006, the Beatrix Head Trial was rescheduled in the competition calendar for the month of December. This favourable change in date worked out well, resulting in a rise in participating crews and a lesser chance of a (partly) frozen canal.
In 2012, the decision was made to change the name into Beatrix Winter Race.

Track Information
The Eindhovens Kanaal is 13 kms long and 20 metres in width. Its width provides just enough space for a Coxed Eight to turn. Passing other boats is possible but requires due care.
The north side of the Eindhovens Kanaal is marked by hectometre signs marked on short, greycoloured posts. A few of them are no longer there, but this will not cause any problems for the competition.
The competition starts at the hectometre sign numbered 60 (“Paaltje 60”), marked START. The track will show signs for 2000 metres (at hectometre sign numbered 80) and 4000 metres (at hectometre sign numbered 100). The Finish is at hectometre sign 120 ( “Paaltje 120”), and will be marked clearly.
There is a bicycling track for coaches and supporters alongside the Eindhovens Kanaal.
